I have to tell you this story!

My son-in-law asked his four year old if he thought that his pregnant Mommy would have a girlbaby or a boybaby. The little guy looked really knowingly and said, in a condescending voice, "Daddy. You have an x and a y and Mommy has an x and an x. If you gave her a y, she'll have a boybaby but if you gave her an x, she'll have a girlbaby."

The daddy ran from the room to ask mommy how he knew that!!!
She said," Oh, from Bill Nye the Science guy!!! His favorite show.

I was teaching a graduate class awhile ago, and one of the students wanted to know why girls are less apt to have as serious a mental retardation with Fragile X Syndrome as boys. So I tell my grandson's story and add that a girl could then have a strong x as well as the 'fragile x' carrier...but a boy only has his single x chromosome.

And some people say that TV is bad for kids!
