Interesting. Does this mean China plans on getting a bigger cut of mobile phone earnings, now that Unicom is publicly traded? Or now that the mobile industry will mushroom, along with the expansion competition will now begin more seriously? Is this an attempt to limit how many times a telco can charge for the same call?

**CHINA TELCOS EXTEND LOSSES ON CALL CHARGE UNCERTAINTY**
China Mobile and China Unicom , the country's two biggest cellular phone operators, down 2.2 percent and 6.1 percent respectively, on continuing uncertainty over the Chinese government's planned implementation of a new tariff structure for mobile phone calls.

China Unicom hit a new all-time intraday low of HK$13.05 before ending the morning at HK$13.15 while China Mobile ended the session at HK$44.30. The stocks are trading 7.6 percent and 12.6 percent respectively below their 14-day moving average share prices and lost 8.5 percent and 9.9 percent respectively over the previous two days.

A spokeswoman for China's Ministry of Information and Industries said on Thursday that the ministry has given cabinet a revised fee schedule for telecommunications services, but is still awaiting its approval.

Analysts said the so-called ``Calling Party Pays'' scheme, where only the caller pays for using a mobile phone could hurt earnings of both operators.
