On my way trying to make it in time for my grandson's birth, I was doing about 90 coming down the hill into the Carson valley in Nevada. I explained to the very nice patrolman that I had just passed a line of motorhomes and was going faster than I thought - it was a new car and I wasn't used to it.

He explained he had to issue the ticket because it registered on his radar, but explained that Nevada has a "waste of fuel" law that the Feds imposed on them and that they use sometimes instead of a speeding ticket. Nevada with all the wide open space has a lot of speeders. Feds say no Fed money for highways unless they issue tickets.

He gave me the name of the judge to contact and to explain what I was doing. They reduced the charges from speeding to waste of fuel. I had to pay the ticket but it didn't go on my record or insurance. Very nice people in Nevada.
