I've been reading about some of the free online courses offered by universities such as Harvard, MIT, and Stanford.

One of the course descriptions, in pointing out that the course lectures were all videotaped and could be watched at any time of the student's choice, mentioned what I thought was an intriguing and clever use of software.

Questions asked by students during the viewing could be aggregated, weighed, and judged by all students, in a way so that the most significant and important of them bubble to the top and would be answered by the staff in future lectures.
