Agree? Disagree?

I'll start.

Persuasion over Emma or Pride and Prejudice? No way. I find Persuasion the second weakest of her books. (Sense and Sensibility, though perhaps the most fun of all her books, is IMO weaker as to characters and plot. Not that plot is her strong point in any of the novels.)

Our Mutual Friend as the Dickens of choice? Nuts. In fact, I would have left Dickens off the list entirely. Would have substituted Trollope, either a one volume edition of the Barchester Novels, or The Way we Live Now.

Ulysses is an elitist literary pick, not a book to read and enjoy as a novel.

That's enough ammunition for the first sally.
