Interesting if true. We know that F&F must have been approved from the very highest levels; otherwise somebody would have been fired and indicted already for its failure. Andy McCarthy has a long article in NRO explaining that F&F was a DOJ OCDETF program from Jan 2010 on, which meant that it was funded and managed out of DOJ.

One more piece of evidence: the list of MSM stories in 2009 pushing the 90% of guns in Mexico meme; there was a whole series in the NYT on it.

I'm still trying to figure out the dog that isn't barking: Mexico. We sent over 2,000 heavy assault weapons to the drug cartels in Mexico; the uptick in carnage has been horrific. Why aren't the Mexican politicians going ballistic over this? What did Obama promise them?

I suspect he promised them open borders. They need the safety valve.
