Jochen, our posts crossed. Please read what I posted before this. Problem understood.

PS: I had tried adding yahoo to the hosts file but it didn't work.

Since now with the router bypassed [it still had the old and suspect comcast DNS numbers in it] I can fetch yahoo news [with the new DNS], I believe it's a comcast DNS problem. Especially since other poster CAN access yahoo news
