Telenor Mobil Chooses Nokia for the Supply of Its Commercial
GPRS Core Network in Norway

Business Editors
HELSINKI, Finland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 2000--Nokia (NYSE:NOK)
has been selected by Telenor Mobil, the leading GSM network operator
in Norway, as the supplier for their General Packet Radio Service
(GPRS) core network. The companies have been in GPRS co-operation
since September last year, when Nokia provided a complete GPRS network
for Telenor Mobil's trial system.
Nokia is at the forefront of development and implementation of
GPRS infrastructure for mobile operators, as existing second
Generation networks evolve to 3G. With GPRS, Telenor Mobil will be
ideally positioned to offer new, exciting applications and services
for their mobile subscribers.
"Nokia's GPRS offers secure high-speed transmission for IP-based
data traffic. With the continued rise in our mobile subscriber base
and Internet connections in Norway, we see a future demand for access
to content-rich, high bit-rate services," says Trond Wiborg, Vice
President, Telenor Mobil. "Nokia's ability to deliver and implement a
commercially-ready GPRS core network will enable Telenor Mobil to
provide some of the most advanced mobile communications services in
the world."
"We are sincerely pleased to extend our relationship with Telenor
Mobil, for the delivery of their GPRS core network, and in this way
contribute to launch of commercial GPRS services in the Norwegian
market " says Finn Erik Hermansen, Managing Director, Nokia Norway.
"GPRS is part of the future 3G infrastructure, and an increasing
number of operators around the world are choosing Nokia for the supply
of their commercial GPRS networks as they invest in laying the ground
for mobile multimedia services."
Nokia has now delivered more than 30 GPRS core networks, more than
any other supplier has delivered to-date. Nokia's success in the
competitive GPRS market is because it offers a secure, end-to-end
solution, with a complete IP billing system and customer care package
including the Nokia Charging Centre.
The Nokia GPRS solution includes the Internet Protocol (IP) core
network infrastructure, the Serving GPRS Support Node, the Gateway
GPRS Support Node, the Domain Name Server, the Charging Gateway,
Router/Firewall and Ethernet switches, service charging and
provisioning solution and applications.
