No professional politician, who put a political career before all, would never have resigned. She accomplished the big things she had in mind for her time as governor and handed them and the office off to a protege who'll pursue the policies and goals she put in place without the constant trumped up ethics complaints. And her protege will have the advantage of running as an incumbent.

Her book deal will set her family for life. She'll be free to travel and speak freely and respond to attacks as she desires. I'm sure we'll see more of her. She could have a TV show if she wanted it. She'll be welcome on any media show that she wishes to accept an invitation to. She'll probably show up at some tea parties and draw big crowds. Will she write a townhall column? Will we see her on PJTV or other venues? She's going to be a lot more visible while still having time for her family.

At the same time, if she runs in 2012, geting the Republican nomination is not assured. Romney and Huckabee and probably Gingrich and Pawlenty will be candidates. None of these are pushovers and they'll be the competition, not Slow Joe Biden. Ultimately, she may turn out to be a stalking horse for the good of the party, drawing negative attacks while another candidate moves in to take the prize. Whatever happens our political future is a lot more interesting now.
