We will have to disagree about Persuasion.

I own all of Trollope, and I love his books. I much prefer him to Dickens, but Dickens has had much more of an impact on Western Society, imo. And part of greatness is impact- that is just my opinion. I believe almost every critic classifies Trollope as a political novelist- he is not as political as Disraeli, but still, his novels for the most part have the backdrop of politics (Secular and church politics). He rarely deals in any depth with the lower classes. The middle classes were about as low as Trollope wanted to go.
