I guess if you are a health insurance company it's great news. I mean how can you miss if the government decrees everyone must buy your product?

They may be happy now, but the ACA is a poison pill the way it stands. I would much rather pay 1% of my pre-tax earnings on health care instead of the 2% to 3.5% in post tax dollars that I am paying now. There's no way that reducing the amount that everyone pays will help to unburden the health care system. It's not like we are adding now money to the system. The people who are currently getting the benefit of free healthcare because they are indigent aren't going to join the ranks of people who are paying into the system. And even if they did, their 1% contribution isn't going to be meaningful.

The only way that the 1% tax makes any sense is if it is on top of the amount that we are paying for healthcare already. And the way that progressives work, that is exactly what will happen. They now have the camel's nose under the tent flap. It won't be too long before the whole stinky beast is inside the tent.
