Thanks for the AMD info and especially the specific notebook playing DVD power values - the premium purpose for a mobile computer <g> as half the total power is for the DVD & screen. I guess we will have to wait for some "batterymark" testing that reflects some real-world application use on batteries (ie. not video compression but rather office apps). One of my best friends is seeking a notebook and I am the designated tech on this one - and it is a new area for me to consider; though I will likely obtain one for the office sometime in the next year after feeling recent technology changes have matured and the market has had some renewed competition to drive innovation and pricing.

ps: Netzeil = Power Supply? (babelfish said: "power pack") I guess the low losses makes sense for DC:DC conversion as I am more used to the 70% efficiency of AC:DC PSU.
