I think Larry King Live made this mess possible. The polling companies added his show to CNN's News show numbers when it wasn't news. Fox took it to it's logical extreme, making all their shows Larry King Live (entertainment) and it's still called news. 538 knows better. They cite it as "top rated news" when it's not news. People stopped thinking a long time ago. Fox and republicans take advantage of it and/or made it the new normal.
