I'd like to put our tortured transportation metaphor/analogy to bed by revistiting the question, 1)America's love affair with the automobile 2)America's love affair with the Internet 3) America's love affair with the PC -- Which of these things doesn't belong? --- It is a stale Gatesian rhetoric that the PC is the new 'automobile' in the hearts and minds of Americans. That's not how it's worked out. --- You rudedog, IMO, are attempting to advance that fanciful notion farther by looking at enterprise computing from the consumer 'automobile driver' context. --- How does that make sense? The first consideration is the individual's 'computing experience'? --- This dream of everyone using these GatesWagons and striking some perfect balance between personal empowerment and economic productivity has reached saturation. --- The Compaq value proposition to the enterprise is "user preferred computing experience"?? -JCJ
