>>>(Short sellers) will always be regarded as pariahs who bet against the home team, hoping that they can profit from someone else's misfortune.<<<

Your anti-shorting comments reflect a widespread misunderstanding of how the stock market works. For both buyers and short sellers, the objective is to buy low and sell high. There is no "moral" difference between the two investment strategies. In fact, short interest is beneficial to long term holders of a stock, as it serves to limit mindless (and unhealthy) price rises as well as cushion sharp declines. In other words, as volatile as SEEK is now, it would be a lot more so without the important circuit-breaker effect of short selling and covering.

Anyone who seeks love or sympathy on an investor forum is emotionally involved in their investments -- a sure way to lose money.
