I think the only way to get a current look at how many mkt makers would be to look at a Level 2 screen on that particular stock. A Level 2 is a quotation service that lists all of the mkt makers with all of their bids and offers. It is a pretty cool system, and can be very helpful when trading Nasdaq stocks, since you have a "live snapshot" of what all the mkt makers are doing.

The other thing you could do to find out is to call the company--usually they will give you a list of all the mkt makers, along with telling you which ones are the most active in trading the stock.
