Wrong. There was no reason to invade Iraq, period. Inspectors were on the ground and doing their job. What, we invaded Iraq because Saddam didn't provide paperwork that was to our likeing! What a joke. Sure Saddam could mobilize weapons in 45 minutes; he had camel backs for launchers. The guy didn't even have an Air Force. We had taken care of his Air Force beforehand. We blew the crap out of the country, knowing that Saddam didn't have any real forces to fight back. Very easy pickings. What about all those pre-war pictures depicting his weapons factories and launch sites? Haven't seen any of those lately, have you. Oh sure, he destroyed them. Maybe he did, but if he did it was before the war. Thus, either way, no WMD indicates Saddam was basically in compliance, and there was no need to invade. Nah, we could have kept inspectors in Iraq for the next 50 years and avoided all this bloodshed.
On the other hand, North Korea is not in compliance. Why don't we go over there and blow the hell out of that country? I'll tell you why. No oil. And they're not easy pickings. No sir, there would be a lot of U.S. casualites if we invaded North Korea. That would be political suicide. |
