No, don't have DVD-ROM nor player but planning to buy a DVD2 kit soon. DVD player will take-off AFTER DVD-ROM. You can get a DVD-ROM II for less than $200 now. The availability of DVD Player marks the beginning of the next "e"volution of video technology, it certainly will takes at least 2 to 3 years for DVD becomes mainstream in consumer market (CUBE predicts mpeg2 codec's price will fall to $100 level before 2000). PC industry will adapte DVD quicker because the fact that all DVD-ROM II is fully-backward compatible with CD-ROM and CDR with a reasonable price tag. The convergence of TV and PC monitor also help. Now people can enjoy LD class movie with their brilliant 17" monitor or even better with 31" or 35" large screen PC with AC-3 sound effect.

Diamond DVD2 kit which includes a DVD-ROM II, a impressive 2D/3D graphic card and AC-3/mpeg2 decoder for only $299! For those who had ATI RageII+DVD and RagePro chipset, they can have ZRAN's hybrid DVD solution biz.yahoo.com
STB and Diamond both have low-cost Single Board for 2D/3D + DVD decoder targeted for sub-$1000 PC.

Oh, this has nothing to do with IOM!
