I don't believe I saw you mention your age before. The reference to the Spring Break crowd was just my impression of some of the posting going on. Some preoccupations are typical of youth, as is the idea that trying to shock people is new and interesting. You defend women's dignity for the same reason you open the door for them. Just residual southern manners I learned from my father, too bad I didn't try to acquire more.

I'm not sure what defense of the world of ideas you mean. I join the debates when they interest me, but not all the time. Am I belittling Johnny? Maybe I mock his infatuation with Ayn Rand's ideas just a bit.
