What concerns me is that they will deploy GPRS and then move to WCDMA sometime in the future. Keep in mind that the purpose of the announcement is to convince Mannesman shareholders to vote for the merger. I doubt that the wireless data solution they propose will be based on a US standard. This will be a Europe leads the way in wireless again, sort of thing. Hope it sounds good for QCOM, but at least on the surface I bet it doesn't.
