NEW SKINNY ON THE PAIRGAIN FRAUD.... You know this one. The other day
a couple of scamsters created a fake Bloomberg Web page announcing a
merger between PairGain (does NOT make breast enlargement systems!)
and another company. Got posted all over, and PairGain stock soared,
then fell when the fraud was discovered. Everyone assumed that the
scamsters bought the stocks (or calls) before they did their deed and
they sold it. But the story today on the Street is that actually what
happened is that these GALS (had to be, right?) SHORTED the stock
AFTER the word got out!!!!! Which may make it harder to track.
Tricky, tricky, tricky!!!!!
