Lying is a strong word. My belief is, that the market will change in a way, that makes it the best decision for Microsoft to make a "Microsoft Linux". The name will maybe be different, since Linux is a trademark held by Paul Allens employee Thorvalds Linus, but a cheap product that runs GNU software as its basis is essentially what I am talking about.

Of course, they will bundle it with software that represents zillions and zillions of lines of code, made by Microsoft, but selling only high-end software, costing more than $200 per installation, will make Microsoft a niche product producer, not a mass product producer as it is today. Microsoft needs a low-end product. Today, this is Windows Me, but even Windows Me is priced quite high compared to Linux instalkations.

Regarding your fraud case: I will never understand U.S. law. But it surely helps you to keep foreign companies out of your market.
