The first releases of Borland C++ and Delphi and JBuilder were virtually unusable.

I do not use, and have never used JBuilder. But I did use the first release of Delphi, and found it to be exceptionally stable. I did use the first release of BCB, and while it had a couple of problems, they were quickly patched. I use BCB each and every day now. I find a couple of minor annoyances, but seldom do I see anything you would classify as a "bug". I don't know where you get your information, but it is blatantly incorrect.

They don't have a C++ section anymore; they have a rack of Java books with a formal Java heading above the isle. Their C++ books are sprinkled in with the Java stuff. 20 percent or so are language books, the rest APIs and other related Java technologies.

That's why I don't go there.
