Why are you so worked up over comments on message boards and newsgroups. You should look at the comments made by policymakers and analysts.

FYI, any analyst who cautions against the perils of a nuclear war is branded as a "Gandhian", or as a "communist", or as a "CIA agent" these days. It is the policymakers and analysts who follow what is being said by the vocal minority that dominate the scene (As someone said, "Let the people lead; the leaders will follow"). So what is being said on the message boards IS of significance.

As for lulling ourselves into feeling superior we never had that problem. We've always been superior.

Nope, as far as defense matters are concerned, now that Pakistan has achieved nuclear parity, India is is NO LONGER superior or secure.

India is not superior in terms of human development either. According to the latest UN Human Development Index reports, India and Pakistan are both pretty much at the bottom of the barrel (ranked 139th and 138th respectively out of a total of 174 nations).

If pakistan thinks that nuclear blackmail is the solution they are solely mistaken and they are beginning to find it so.

Wrong. Pakistan will use nuclear blackmail to good effect. India can NEVER again cross the LoC without inviting the possibility of a nuclear strike by Pakistan. So, unlike 1965, India can no longer cross over to PoK and "punish" Pakistan. If they think they can (again, most of the idiots on the message boards as well as the RSS bigots think it's possible), they will find out exactly what it implies.

But the question of how india reacts and what it has to do when that happens are the questions that need to be answered.

Well, up until now, the only "answers" has been of the "Hey, we'll nuke them and destroy them, so what's there to worry?" variety.
