Woven into your analysis are so many assumptions that I disagree with I do not know if it is worth a rejoinder. As an example, it is a fantasy to say that we could not have won in Vietnam without killing most Vietnamese, North and South. In a dictatorship, there is no adequate way to gauge public support, and public opinion in the South was also difficult to gauge with the Vietcong effectively dominating portions of the country. Almost the entire populations of Japan and Germany were mobilized against us, and supported their leadership, but we beat them without killing all of them.
Those who are killing us are getting better, or their families are, than those Iraqis working for us. I hear that the current price for killing an American soldier is $5000. Even so, we have plenty of Iraqis willing to risk retaliation by helping us, whether as police or informants. Your analysis of the situation on the ground is, to say the least, highly dubious.
Sure, let everyone express their opinions, no one is stopping them. However, if I consider their opinions or the way they express them irresponsible, I will feel free to say so........... |
