Giddy,
concerning future strategies, I think it would be good to devote
more time on this thread to shorting. I do not have much money and
because of that my investing horizon is very short (at most few weeks). I also try to be all cash at some critical points in the market. So when I mention shorting I do not mean the fundamental one
for people with deep pockets but a technical one. This volatile
market gives us plenty of opportunities to trade both ways.
Take as recent examples VIAS, VVUS and CFMT. The last two could have been played very profitably both long and short. I have shorted CFMT on the previous run (at 35) and VVUS several times by now. I am still watching both of them for an entry point (short).
I envy Adrew that he can afford to go into cash. For me it is not
an option since my portfolio has to generate income for me. So I will be looking for shorts and some longs. I am quite pessimistic about
small caps. We had some activity in them in November (my best month)
and December, but somehow I do not see rotation comeing anytime soon.
I hope it will and hope that we will not hit the bear market because
if we do I would have to get married reach. brrrrrrrr !

wiesia.
