That California slipped down to 9th on the top ten list of world GDP's...if you had any analytical skills or a brain larger than a small aboreal primate, you'd realize there has been an emergent phenomenon of rapidly rising BRIC economies in the last 20yrs. That Brazil edged out California in the last 10yrs surprises a ding-a-ling like you? Look at the land mass & resources they have, the new technologies they can employ now developing themselves, Petrobras may be bigger than Exxon some day, shit happens doesn't it?

Did you think Juan the coffee bean picker was going to stay the humble farmer in bermuda pants & straw hat was going to remain so forerver? Also there's adjustments due to our domestic inflation, increasing costs of commodities, California is still the largest GDP in the US.
