I cannot recall if I have mentioned my love for Magnus Mills' books. I think he is a wonderful writer- it's quirky stuff; it's dark humor: amazon.com amazon.com I read both of these, and I preferred the Restraint of Beasts- but I liked both very much indeed. Mills was nominated in 1998 for the Man Booker prize for the Restraint of Beasts (the title has to do with fences, as well as with metaphoric meanings).
