15:46 ET Applied Materials (AMAT) 47 3/4 -5 5/16 (-10%): -- Update -- Market talk is that investors are nervous ahead of AMAT's earnings report. Fear is that company will make qtr but issue cautionary guidance. Given recent misses out of the chip equip space, concerns are certainly reasonable. However, timing seems a little aggressive given that AMAT does not report until Nov. 15.
