Not that I want to make any excuses but Rapid Prototyping is also a well-known software development term which makes it ambiguous in the context of both software and physical modeling. So they provide computerized manufacturing with an emphasis on prototyping with a special device for generating models. Nothing close to the real thing but a reasonable facsimile from a visual perspective. Clearly the real value is in the physical modeling device since there's no reason for specialized computing equipment or a special operating system. I would think the software would be run-of-the-mill too.
