Thu 12 Jun 97 News Release
Mr Will Felderhof reports
Diamond drilling has commenced on the East Salopa project in West Java,
Indonesia. The first drill hole, EID-1-97, will test target 1 on the Pondok
Watu prospect which is a 7m wide brecciated quartz vein outcrop from which
chip channel sampling across the full width assayed an average 0.50 g/t
gold. Within this 7m, a 2m interval assayed 1.12 g/t gold. This zone
presently shows a strike length potential of 700m.
Three additional targets, one of which, target 2, is presently interpreted
to be the faulted extension of target 1, will be tested prior to moving the
drill rig to the Pasir Ipis area in the Melawong prospect. Target 2 on
Pondok Watu is a brecciated quartz vein with an associated stockwork zone,
from which grab samples respectively assayed 1.32 g/t gold and 0.26 g/t
gold.
Initial drilling on the Pasir Ipis area will test a large hydrothermal
system characterized by a gold, lead, mercury, molybdenum soil anomaly and
strongly leached outcrops exposed in trenches which are argillized,
silicified and exhibit extensive stockwork quartz and limonite veining.
Quartz vein float samples from the Pasir Ipis area assayed up to 1.71 g/t
gold and stockwork quartz veining in outcrop up to 0.17 g/t gold over 1m.
Drill hole lengths will for the most part be 30-40m, with the exception of
those planned for Pasir Ipis which will be up to 100m. Core size will be HQ
and all core will be split with half retained for future visual reference
and check assaying if required. Rigorous controls will be implemented with
respect to sampling of drill core and shipment of samples for assaying.
Initial assay results are anticipated in early July.
All gold assays will be provided by PT Geoservices of Jakarta, Indonesia
which will undertake sample preparation and fire assays under its procedure
GG313 which uses a 50 g sample and an atomic absorption finish. All high
values will be routinely checked to verify results. PT Geoservices has been
providing services to the mining industry since 1971 and maintains a
quality management system in accordance with ISO 9002.
The East Salopa field programs are under the supervision of geologists Mr
Greg Smith and Mr Jim Richards, both of whom have extensive international
experience in gold exploration.
East Indies currently has a 90% interest in any proceeds to be derived from
mineral exploration activities on the East Salopa property under an
agreement with a private Indonesian company that holds the exploration KP
for the property issued by the Indonesian government.
