Why in the world do you think those are requirements for GE to take off?
10/100 BaseT to the desktop connected to FE or GE switches and FE/GE server links
will allow one heck of a lot of FE/GE to be sold without fiber to
all the desktops - certainly enough until your #2 arrives.
