Joan, I meant looking over my shoulder in a very positive way. Having some natural capability doesn't mean that I am satisfied. I suspect that even musicians who cannot read notes are aware of limitations under which they operate.

The first sentence I wrote to you above actually brings to mind one of my own major bugaboos. Some people would have preferred that I use <ggg> after my sentence. I hate cyber acronyms. As I said in another thread, I think these acronyms extract individuality and imagination from verbal communication. They are an extension of political correctness and a weak attempt at creating an esoteric jargon. Of course, I have no problem with acronyms like FBI and CIA or radar and laser. These acronyms don't function like an "Applause" sign.

A policeman once asked me for my "d.l." I said, "What's a dee el?" He said, "Your driver's license!" How desperate, I thought as I put my hand in my p., took out my w. and removed my d.l.

I will definitely be looking for the Fowler and Fowler book you recommended and more of your fascinating posts.

Hope ya had a great holiday,
Rahn.
