Many different forms of technology for the increased bandwidth are already here, but they are just not widely used. Take ISDN (which is actually too slow anyway) for instance, ISDN lines hae been around for a few years now, but hardly anyone has one. Widespread use of higher-bandwidth technology must be implemented before internet boxes can become widely used.

Also, the LSI chip is NOT faster than a Pentium Pro, or even a 486. Anyway, those chips are designed to do MUCH different things, you couldn't just substitute an LSI chip for an Intel CPU, or vice-versa. The LSI chip is actually basically the same chip found in Sony Playstation (LSI makes that too).
