Just so we can liven it up here a little bit I'll jump in here. We don't want this to become like the Boink thread where the only ones left are the bashers and no contrarians.
First, the only people in Congress who've even mentioned the word 'traitor' are the Dems. They likely got it from the right wing publications/talk on the web and elsewhere. Like the Lewinsky scandal, where the Dems are trying to make it a 'sex' issue when it is eveything but, the Dems are hoping 'traitor' will take everyone's eye off the ball. By using imflammatory words, this is all about sex, sex, sex and traitor the Dems hope to take this to the level of ridicule.
I agree in principle with you, it's only the facts that count and I, for one, am willing to wait for the facts to come out and let the chips fall where they may as with Nixon. Yes, I'm a conservative (more of a centrist), but I'm also an idealist and I expect the leaders I help elect to maintain a certain degree of ethics and decorum but if they betray that trust then I'll lead the parade running them out of town. I don't see any of that with this president. It's just, as in all the other scandals so far, this administration obfuscates at every turn. They continually act, like O.J. who also decried his total innocence, as if they don't want the facts to come out. If Clinton and the Dems are so innocent and pure then why aren't they throwing open all the doors to let out all the information? It's obvious they are trying to hide some (if not a lot of) thing(s).
As far as Paula Jones. Yes, she looks worse all the time, and, yes, she has a right wing organization fronting her efforts (what'd ya think...a left wing organization would come to her aid?) but...can't one see the parallels with the past seemingly incessant and unfounded attacks from the left wing against everything Reagan/Republican. I mean, c'mon, wasn't it left wing organizations that fronted Anita Hill, the October surprise, arms for hostages, etc. And the money Paula Jones is getting? I don't like it either but that Mercedes she's driving, which the press gleefully pointed out, is an eight year old car. If she got the kind of money Hubbell got she would have been driving a new Mercedes. After Anita Hill's attempt to bring down Judge Thomas for talking dirty she got $15,000 a pop for speaking engagements after saying she wasn't going to make money from the experience.
Speaking of money. One fact that no one refutes is that Mr. Schwartz gave more money as an individual contributor to the DNC than anyone else. Only he, in his industry specialty, got the audiences with the Chinese while traveling with Ron Brown (Correct me if I'm wrong here or were any of his competitors present? Did the Chinese entertain competitive bids from other American co.s?) Clinton exercised waivers over the objections of his own administration officials to allow Loral to deal with the Chinese. Doesn't this warrant at least a red flag or two?
Let's try to be objective and admit there's fault to pass around for one and all and there's a lot of payback going on here. The Dems practically invented the rhetoric we're hearing today in assassinating their opponents. The Repub.s have a long way to go to catch up to the hyperbole and ad hominem attacks of the Dems (except for those on these threads, evidently).
