JF,

As far as I can tell they have no plans to license it out. I asked that very question in an email to the science officer but have gotten no response. Your inference is well taken: Does Hyseq have the structural support in place to develop a therapeutic product on its own? I'll post any response I receive.

Nanogen's technology is very exciting, indeed. The biomolecular machines are out of my league (off the stratosphere IMO), but their sequencing technology seems to allow them to analyze minute quantities of DNA--a clear advantage. Also, there is intense academic interest in the idea that we can manipulate enzymes into performing nano-scale mechanical functions, a field that Nanogen is pursuing. For example, one could imagine that we could take the enzyme responsible for twisting DNA into its correct topological configuration and instruct it to do the same for nanometer-scale fibers. I want to learn more about this technology and any interesting stuff that comes out of my travels I will be sure to post.

see you,
John
