Websense Sees 3Q EPS 26c

SAN DIEGO -- Websense Inc. (WBSN) second-quarter net income rose 42%, fueled by customer growth and strong margins.
In a press release Tuesday, the Internet-management software company said net income was $5.8 million, or 24 cents a share, compared with $4.1 million, or 18 cents a share, a year ago.
Revenue rose 36% to $26.6 million from $19.5 million.
Websense's results were higher than the average analyst estimates compiled by Thomson First Call, which had projected earnings of 22 cents a share and revenue of $25.6 million.
Websense shares recently traded at $33.50 after hours, according to Inet, after closing the regular session at $32.16, up $2.15 or 7.2%.
For the third quarter, Websense expects third-quarter subscription revenue of $28 million to $29 million and earnings of about 26 cents a share.
First Call estimates project revenue of $26.8 million and earnings of 23 cents a share.
In the 2003 third quarter, Websense earned $4.2 million, or 18 cents a share, on revenue of $21 million.
For the second quarter, operating income was $8.8 million, or 33% of revenue. Websense expects a third-quarter operating margin of 32% to 34%.
