TriTeal solves a problem that exists within the corporate enterprise: unifying the fragmented corporate desktop. The adoption of client/server technology within the corporate enterprise is one of the driving forces behind this fragmentation. As a result, corporations now have multiple proprietary, incompatible systems that are co-existing with one another, yet not inter-operating. For example, a company’s Sun-based design engineering application could include SPARC as the processor, Sun Solaris as the operating system, and Sun OpenLook (Sun's proprietary CDE) as the desktop. This may not communicate with the same company's HP-based accounting system comprised of HP's PA-RISC processor, HP-UX operating system, and HP VUE (HP's proprietary CDE) on the desktop. In fact, according to industry estimates, corporate MIS departments, on average, simultaneously manage 12 different proprietary systems.
TriTeal's Enterprise Desktop (TED) unifies corporation's systems on the desktop level, reduces overall administrative costs, and protects the significant pre-existing investments in legacy systems. TED provides the "glue" that ties together these incompatible systems. Users are presented with a common desktop environment that provides the same "look and feel" across multiple hardware platforms, increasing their overall effectiveness. MIS departments can write an application once, and can be assured cross-platform deployment. Overall support and administrative costs can be significantly reduced. |
