I, too, have had problems finding information about about this company. Wall Street Journal's briefing books carries a few of their press releases. For those of you that don't have access to WSJ's interactive edition, here is a synopsis from Innovacom's August 15th press release ...
They claim their single chip encoder (called DVImpact) will offer price reductions of about a third over the 13-chip systems that are currently in most MPEG-2 encoders today. Applications include audio and video compression of DVD recording and playback, cable, broadcast, and satellite news gathering, video conferencing, intranet communications, video on demand and video dialtone. Miltary uses also.
DVImpact will permit new flexibility in the upcoming DVD systems where single chip solutions will produce major price, size and picture quality advantages.
For cable applications it will compress a cable channel up to 10 times, thus converting 50 channels into 500.
The President, Mark Koz, has been active in the video compression field for years, and holds numerous patents including "video in a window" for desktop PCs. He is a member of the MPEG (Motion Pictures Experts Group), the committee that establishes international MPEG standards. A contact phone for them is (408) 727-6201.
I have been watching this stock climb steadily for weeks now. I bought today at 6 1/8, and will be watching it closely. I was conservative in my purchase, as I don't know much about the financials of this company. Does anyone else???
