Just because someone has a buy and hold strategy doesn't mean that they are in love with a stock. It means that they believe in the long term prospects of a company and are betting that their strategy of simply holding through good and bad times will provide better long term returns than trying to jump in and out at every down turn. Many very wealthy portfolios have been built by buying quality stocks, holding, and then adding (NOT selling) when the market provides the opportunity.
