lol, so you've bought when you wanted to sell. I've done that too! However, since I always check my positions immediately after a ticket executes, I've always managed to realize my mistake right away. Heaven help the person who thinks that they are short, merrily watching the T&S showing the price dumping only to realize later that they were long instead! Hope that didn't happen to you.

But, one minor point, here: RTII does indeed automatically change a sell order to a short order when you don't own the stock. It didn't about 6 months ago, but it does now.

And as far as I know, you'll have to place two separate orders on Monday to unwind your position and then go short.
