Hi BF: Reminds me of the study I read in Science, which proved that Chardonnay is today the king of them all only due to the fact one of its parents is Gouais Blanc - a very much despised and spit upon variety, actually so worthless, that for centuries nobody has been growing it for real - wine.about.com >>And what is this Gouais Blanc? The Gouais blanc grape is believed to have been brought from Croatia into France by the Romans. Here it was so despised that even its name comes from a derogatory term. Ah, revenge is sweet.
