Let me see if I got this straight, boys. . .
1. Although all rational scientific evidence (including geological, biological and paleontological) points to the Earth being billions of years old, and Sol (our sun) being a third generation star with some other stars being billions of years older, the Earth and Universe are only 10,000 years old?
And dinosaur bones are put there to test our faith? And evolution has no merit?
2. You believe in an omnipotent god; one who knows all, sees all and is a timeless immortal. Yet, this god creates a man and woman in a `Garden of Eden', creatures he knows will betray him, suffer anguish and commit "sin", even rebel against him!
This is also the god who peviously created `the angel Satan', this god's `favorite'-- a being who later becomes the epitome of evil! How could a god go so wrong? Well, he knew what Satan would do later and what Satan would become even before Satan was created!
3. This wonderful, `just' god then proceeds to choose one group of people as his `chosen ones' and pits them against all other peoples (if not across the face of the Earth, then at least regionally). The god then promotes animal sacrifice, rape, pillage, murder, warfare, theft, tyranny and slavery against all who are not his chosen people.
This then is the essence of the Old Testament. It has held billions in its slimy grip throughout the millennia, caused untold misery, supported slave governments and despots, inquisitions, contributed greatly to the sorry history of the West, was the motive power for war and the underlying cause for ignorance and folly on scales so vast it even boggles the rational mind. Hitler and Nazism, Marx, Lenin, Stalin and Mao's Communism were petty change compared to this atrocity.
You can have it, if you claim it. It is anti-life and irrational and all yours. . . the philosophy of the truly damned.
