12:46PM Dollar shrugs off Snow's 'strong dollar' comment by Tomi Kilgore
The U.S. dollar has shrugged off Treasury Secretary John Snow's reiteration of the "stong dollar" policy. The buck is down 0.8 percent versus the euro at $1.0970 -- it hit a fresh 4-year low of around $1.1003 in intraday trading -- and 0.6 percent against the yen at 117.22. Weakness was initially prompted by comments by Snow overnight that he was not particularly concerned about recent weakness. After Snow tried to undo the damage, the dollar had bounced to about $1.0956 versus the euro and to 117.35 against the yen before selling resumed.
