Of course it's been that way, but it hasn't gone down, either.

I'm not sure how much of a recovery we're going to get without the fears of inflation looming large over it.

Deflation is such a big problem.....still....that I don't expect GLD to do nada over the next year. And if it looks like Bernanke and Obama have inflation under control next year, you will have made zilch on your money while the stock market is booming. GLD doesn't have to go down for you to lose.
