Bob, MSFT's $5B of T was STRATEGIC investment, whereas yours was only garden-variety investment. That means that for each share of T that MSFT bought, they got more than you did for each share you bought. They got not only fractional ownership of T, but also first Dibs at the OS for the T set-top box.

Now you can argue that the strategic part of their investment was money down the toilet for MSFT since they failed to deliver their WinCE TV platform. But it still gave them a CHANCE at a deal with T, which they wouldn't have had without that strategic investment.
