Diamond Exploration Best Practices Committee Announcement

MONTREAL, June 6 /CNW/ - A CIM-led industry committee is being formed
under the chairmanship of Robert Gannicott of Aber Diamond Corporation to
develop guidelines for reporting diamond exploration results as recommended in
the Mining Standards Task Force Final Report of January 1999 (Diamond
Exploration Best Practices Committee).
Committee members will be experienced professionals from industry
associations, professional societies, mining and mineral exploration companies
and mineral industry and related consultancies.

The mandate of the Committee is to:

- Prepare a report of proposed guidelines for reporting diamond
exploration results for industry comment by September 2002 which will
be based on a review of Canadian and international Best Practices;

- Compile, assess and incorporate, as appropriate, comments from broad
industry circulation of the proposed guidelines; and

- Prepare a final report for adoption by CIM Council and incorporation in
the CIM Industry Standards.

The full Scope of Work of the Committee will be developed by the Chair,
in consultation with the committee members and presented to CIM Council for
information. The Committee was formally recognized at the May 1, 2002 CIM
Council Meeting.
