cheers said this today if you can believe it!!

>>>Call it: msft buying time until they
can diversify out of the computer to the service and
content-provider market. I think the guys up in Redmond are
driven by fear & they're desparately trying to shift gears.
All the legal problems are just a distraction, but they will
seriously mar MSFT's reputation among the general public and
can't be good for MSFT's business.<<<

You know, if Jodie Foster went to visit her dead father in Contact and had come back today and missed the earnings reports, what would she make of the above comment?

Reading it, she would probably deduce that SUNW had reported gangbuster numbers and gone up $6 bucks today, and msft would have lost 25% of its value over the last few weeks. She would be totally surprised that what really happened was just the reverse. And that msft is in fact guiding analysts to be more bullish in their outlook. All this good stuff in the face of a pesky DOJ lawsuit too. Sometimes you just have to wonder if people read the same news you do. You know, I betcha msft can't WAIT to "diversify out of the computer and into the service and content-provider business." I guess those 40% margins just aren't cutting it.
