as i remember, in philly, there were precincts that used a person's house as a place to vote. I think this was common in lots of districts throughout the city. Now of course those votes are controlled by the majority party in the area.

Let's assume all places to vote are in public places.. How do you control that the person is checking i.d. if the major party in that district still controls who works at the voter places. Can you have enough independent checkers in large cities? we did have checkers throughout our voting places in suburbs in the last election. I find it hard to believe how effective it would be in a die hard , heavily populated ,blue color ,democrat district.

voter i.d. is a start to honest elections. we have a few counties that they refused to check id. randnor township and one other. I hope they get fired or arrested.
