I agree "fine-tuning" on that level doesn't happen ... but I do think Greenspan and others 'cooperate' when several barometers signal real trouble. To think that they don't watch closely at times like these (i.e. ... widened credit spreads, a "correcting" stock market, steep drop in reported earnings) and form plans to intervene in some way is somewhat naive, IMO I do believe that governments, ours and others, do work to check the flight to gold ... they simply have a vested interest to do so. If that makes me a conspiracy nut -- that's what I am. The only difference between me and someone like that Murphy guy is probably the extent to which I'd go to try and prove it ...
